“You will never always be motivated, so you must learn to be disciplined.”
Hello again from, quite possibly, the worlds worst blogger! It’s been months, I know sorry, but my writing mindset has kind of taken a vacation. I’m not sure if it is an out of sight out of mind thing, the huge change in weather (did I mention I am not a huge fan of warm weather? – living in Florida is the perfect place for me, not lol) or what, but I just have not had the same motivation to write as I did up in the frozen tundra. By the way, I am not missing that weather at all. The north is getting murdered by snow and frozen temps!
Anywho, the other day I came across a quote that stuck in my head and poked at my motivation a little bit…”You will never always be motivated, so you must learn to be disciplined.” That phrase has been bouncing around in my head for a few days now and forced me (in a good way) to look at the things in my life that I have lost some motivation to do – such as writing.
I still am not 100% sure why it feels harder to blurt something out onto the internet here but I have a theory. In today’s world many(most) people are connected and online 24/7 and Miami is no exception. Miami seems like the capital of “do it for the gram”. There are always people stopping in the middle of the street to have someone take a posed photo or a cute selfie with their dog. I mean, a local newspaper recently wrote an article saying that (after our last “super popular for pictures” art installation) our city was searching for the another instagram worthy art installation. Can we dial back the basic b**ch a little bit?
For someone who doesn’t like being the center of attention, I am living in a very “look at me” city. So I think subconsciously I was a little burnt out in regards to online presence. However I do like to write and, even though some of my motivation is still on vacation, I need to practice some discipline.
I can’t guarantee a new blog post every week but I will definitely be posting in a more regular fashion, instead of just starting drafts that waste away longing to be revisited haha. Here’s to better blogging in 2019!
