This past weekend I went to visit some family in Madison, Alabama. Not only do I have some family out of state but my fianceĀ“ does as well – so holidays can be a bit hectic! I don’t get down there too often so it is always nice when I do.

my trip to Alabama in a nutshell:

I have made this trip a couple of times now and it is not terrible. I fly out of MKE and normally grab a connecting flight from Charlotte, North Carolina to Huntsville International Airport. HSV is such an easy airport to navigate through and if you need to stay in a hotel they have a very nice one right there in the airport.

This time I decided to stay in an Airbnb in Madison and, I have to say, it was awesome. I was a little hesitant at first but the one I stayed in had great reviews and was much closer to my family than the airport hotel where I stayed previously. It was such a cute little place and it was right by Historic Downtown Madison which made it easy to do a little sightseeing during my short visit!

I was able to grab Sunday brunch with my sister at Another Cracked Egg and they had some tasty things on the menu. Trying new brunch/breakfast places when I travel is probably one of my favorite things! I mean, who doesn’t love a good brunch.

On my way back home I had a bit longer layover than normal so I decided to grab dinner at Whisky River in the Charlotte Douglas Airport. The food was pretty tasty, the service was great and they had live entertainment. The guitarist/singer was actually very good. It was a very relaxing way to spend a layover!

All in all I had a nice little getaway but, as always, my favorite part of traveling is coming home.

Here is the Airbnb I stayed at. :)
